Zappfresh Acquires Bonsaro to Enhance Presence in Western Region
Gurugram, Haryana – Zappfresh, an online fresh fish and meat retailer, has made its second acquisition in the country with the takeover of Bonsaro, a Mumbai-based firm that specializes in the online delivery of poultry, goat, and seafood.
This acquisition, which is set to expand Zappfresh’s presence in the western region, marks a major milestone for the company as it looks to strengthen its market foothold in the highly competitive online food delivery space. With the takeover, Zappfresh will now have control over Bonsaro’s entire operations, including its assets, enhancing its brand presence and operational capabilities in the western region.
Launched by Sachin Shetty and Vinay D’silva, Bonsaro has established a strong reputation for delivering high-quality seafood, red meat, and poultry items to customers in various cuts and forms. This acquisition aligns with Zappfresh’s mission to offer customers a seamless experience in ordering and receiving non-vegetarian food products.
In the coming months, Zappfresh plans to invest in Bonsaro’s existing operations, aiming to enhance the customer experience and expand its product offerings. Additionally, the company plans to enter new markets in the western region, including Navi Mumbai, Pune, and other satellite towns, within the next year.
As for Zappfresh’s financial performance, the company reported a revenue of Rs 56 crore during the fiscal year ended March 2023, with a profit of Rs 11 crore in the same period. Although it is yet to file its financial results for FY24, sources suggest that the company is likely to go public in the last leg of the ongoing financial year (FY25).
The food delivery space will be keeping a close eye on Zappfresh’s next moves as the company continues to expand its operations through strategic acquisitions like the one with Bonsaro.
