  • Issued 5,000 preference and 100,000 equity shares to Davidson & Co. Ltd., Belfast upon merger of Davidson of India Pvt. Ltd.

1968

  • Issued 300,000 equity shares at par through prospectus.
  • Issued 100,000 9% preference shares and 100,000 equity shares to members of Steam & Mining Equipment (India) Pvt. Ltd. on merger.

1976

  • Letter of intent for belting project converted to industrial licence.
  • Technical collaboration with BTR Belting Ltd., U.K. for synthetic fibre reinforced rubber conveyor belts.
  • Amalgamated Calcutta Discount Co. Ltd. effective 1 January.
  • Cancelled 22,790 4.5% preference shares upon merger.

1977

  • Entered agreement with BETHE GmbH, West Germany for air pollution control equipment.
  • Technical collaboration with Davidson & Co. Ltd., U.K. for heavy duty fans.

1978

  • Acquired Steam & Mining Equipment (India) Private Ltd. effective 1 July.
  • Acquired Davidson of India Pvt. Ltd. and Port Engineering Works Ltd.; amalgamated effective 1 July.
  • Acquired business of Steam & Mining (Switchgear) Ltd. effective 1 July.
  • Closed marketing activities.
  • Hooghly Printing Co. Ltd. became wholly owned subsidiary.

1982

  • Issued 5,182,834 equity shares for cash at par.

1983

  • Received Letter of Intent for material handling equipment.
  • Air Pollution Control Equipment Unit received Letter of Intent for wet suppression dust control system; collaborated with B.J. Devaux & Co., U.K.
  • Technical collaboration with Peabody Sturtevant Ltd., U.K. for electrostatic precipitators.
  • Electrical Unit diversified into electronics, mine communication, and safety devices.
  • Belting Division implemented technology for YULE SHAKTI polyester cord fan and vee belts with Goodyear India Ltd.
  • Technical collaboration with BETH GmbH, West Germany for Bethfulls.
  • Transformer & Switchgear Ltd., Chennai nationalised and vested with Company effective 8 November.

1985

  • Belting division installed additional equipment to increase production of YULE SHAKTI polyester fan and vee belts.
  • Obtained approval for project to manufacture steel cord reinforced rubber conveyor belting.

1986

  • Proposed transfer of technology for pole mounted switchgears and sectionalizers with Togami Electric Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Japan.

1987

  • Inaugurated new factory on 10 October; increased production of conveyor, fan, and vee belts.
  • Amalgamated six tea subsidiaries effective 26 August: Banarhat, Basmatia, Hoolungooree, Mim, Murphulani (Assam), and Rajgarh Tea Co. Ltd.
  • Allotted 2,217 6.5% and 9,259 9.3% cumulative preference shares and 1,882,714 equity shares per amalgamation scheme.
  • Brentford Electric (India) Ltd. undertaking nationalised effective 1 April 1986 and vested with Company.

1988

  • Electrical unit entered collaboration with Metronex Ltd., Poland for mining electronic equipment.
  • Continued collaboration with Togami Electric Mfg. Co., Ltd., Japan for vacuum circuit breakers.

1989

  • Engineering division developed flame proof sequence controller and communication system.
  • Took steps for manufacture of synthetic fibre reinforced conveyor belting.
  • Redeemed 9%, 6.5%, and 9.3% preference shares.
  • Issued 1,157,600 equity shares to Government of India for compensation for Brentford Electric and Transformer & Switchgear.

1990

  • Entered collaboration agreement with Department of Electronics for Linear Accelerator machines for cancer therapy.

1991

  • Entered collaboration with M&I Heat Transfer Products of Canada for air handling and ventilation equipment.
  • Acquired 50% interest in Brentford Electric (India) Limited as sole selling agents.

1992

  • Launched Yule Red and Yule Dust products.
  • Electrical unit to manufacture EPABX and ERAX equipment based on C-Dot technology.
  • Togami unit to import SF-6 gas filling plant from Germany.
  • Brentford unit entered technical collaboration with Daihen Corporation Ltd., Japan for automatic step voltage regulators.
  • Finalised technical collaborations with Togami Electric Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Japan for 3.3 KV airbreak contractors, isolators, LT contactors, bi-metallic overload relays, and moulded case circuit breakers.

1993

  • Signed technical collaboration with Mushroom Consulting J. Huys B.V., Holland for white button mushrooms.
  • Undertook horticulture and tissue culture project with modern technology.

1994

  • Manufacture of specialised air handling and ventilation equipment delayed due to technical problems.
  • Belting division faced crisis due to lower order intake.
  • Due to liquidity crisis, proposed Yule Agro Industries Ltd. for agro-based products.
  • Introduced voluntary retirement scheme to reduce workforce in engineering and electrical divisions.

1998

  • Joint venture with Phoenix AG of Germany for belting division delayed.

1999

  • Phoenix AG of Germany acquired 74% stake in belting division for Rs 35 crore.
  • Submitted revival-cum-restructuring proposal for engineering division.

2000

  • Accepted and prematurely retired employees based on voluntary separation applications.

2001

  • Shri Arindom Mukherjee appointed as Chairman and Managing Director.
  • Offered Voluntary Retirement Scheme; failed to release union staff at head office.

2002

  • Approved issue of 2,900,000 equity shares of Rs 10 each to Central Government in conversion of Rs 29 million financial assistance.

2003

  • Board approved issue of 4,305,000 equity shares of Rs 10 each to Central Government in conversion of Rs 43.05 million financial assistance.
