Company History

1993

  • Beeyu Overseas Limited was incorporated on 4th March under the Companies Act, 1956.

1994

  • The Company set up its own overseas office in Moscow, Russia.

1995

  • The Company set up its second overseas office in Leningrad (St. Petersburg).

1996

  • An office was set up in Cochin to support overseas activity and purchase tea, coffee and other agro-based products in South India.

1998

  • The Company set up its own state-of-art Tea Blending and Packing unit in Coimbatore.

1999

  • The Company acquired a plantation unit in the Nilgiris situated at Doddabetta.

2000

  • The first manufacturing unit, a 1200 tpa CTC factory, was set up at Nilgiri.

2001

  • Production at the CTC factory commenced on 15th January, 2001.
  • The Corporate Head Office of Beeyu was constructed at Ballygunge Circular Road, in Calcutta.

2002

  • The blending unit was shifted to the plantation at Doddabetta with major up-gradation.

2003

  • The Company set up a state-of-art orthodox tea manufacturing unit in the existing Estate at Doddabetta with an installed capacity of 1800 tpa.
  • Commercial production of the orthodox tea manufacturing unit started on 12th August, 2003.
  • The Company got its processes ISO 9000:2001 certified from PET NORSKE VERUAS.

2004

  • The Company de-bonded the CTC EOU unit and entered the domestic bulk tea market.
  • The Company adopted a village in the Doddabetta region to ensure consistent supply of quality green leaf.
  • The Company embarked on a major expansion program for setting up additional CTC and Orthodox tea production facilities.

2005

  • The first phase of the Company's expansion program was operational, doubling the total manufacturing facility from 3,000 tpa to 6,000 tpa.

2006

  • The second phase of the Company's expansion program was commissioned, increasing the total manufacturing facility to 9,000 tpa.
  • Beeyu joined hands with Fern Tea for Sri Lanka entry.

2007

  • Beeyu Overseas designated an E-mail ID for Investor Complaints.
