Company History

1992

  • The Company was incorporated as a Public Limited Company on June 30.
  • The Company obtained the certificate for commencement of business on January 8.
  • The Company undertook to set up a project for manufacture of optical fibre cables in technical and financial collaboration with Ericsson Cables AB Sweden.

1993

  • 9 equity shares of Rs 10 each were subscribed for by signatories to the Memorandum of Association.
  • 249,99,991 shares of Rs 10 each were issued for cash at par to various parties.

1995

  • 50,00,000 equity shares were allotted on Rights basis.

1996

  • The Company entered into an agreement with Ericsson Cables AB, Sweden, for technical know-how and assistance.

2003

  • Mr. D. R. Bansal was re-appointed as Managing Director of the Company.

2004

  • The Company was delisted from Madhya Pradesh Stock Exchanges.

2007

  • Mr. Dinesh Kumar Sonthalia was appointed as whole time Company Secretary & Compliance Officer of the Company.
  • Mr. H V Lodha was appointed as a Director of the Company.

2008

  • Mr. S K Daga and Mr. Dinesh Chanda were appointed as alternate Directors to act for Mr. Janne Sjoden and Mr. Magnus Kreuger respectively.

2009

  • Mr. Harsh V. Lodha was appointed as Chairman of the Company.
  • Mr. K. Raghuraman was appointed as Director of the Company.

2010

  • Mr. D. R. Bansal was re-appointed as Managing Director of the Company for a further period of 3 years.
  • Mr. Dinesh Chanda was appointed as an alternate Director.

2011

  • Mr. Dinesh Chanda and Mr. S. K. Daga were appointed as alternate Directors.

2012

  • Mr. D. R. Bansal was appointed as an Additional Director on the Board of the Company.

2013

  • Dinesh Chanda and S.K. Daga were appointed as Alternate Directors.

2014

  • The Company recommended a dividend of 10% on equity shares for the year 2013-14.

2016

  • The name of Birla Ericsson Optical Ltd was changed to Birla Cable Ltd.
