Company History

1976

  • Incorporated on 7th October in New Delhi; promoted by Ashok Jaipuria for BOPP film manufacture.
  • Planned manufacture of coated and uncoated BOPP film (10-15 microns) for packaging.

1980

  • Allotted 260,000 shares to promoters, 99,000 to SICOM, 100,000 to Ashok Jaipuria.
  • Offered 441,000 shares at par to public in July.

1984

  • Production increased to 512 tonnes; sales to 499 tonnes.

1985

  • Developed pearlined film for attractive packaging.
  • Annulled forfeiture of 1,700 equity shares.

1986

  • Proposed 1,193,800 15% secured convertible debentures on rights basis (1:2).
  • Proposed 59,690 debentures to employees and 238,760 to promoter company shareholders.
  • Debentures convertible: Rs 20 into 2 equity shares after 6 months; Rs 100 between 3-4 years.

1987

  • Issued 1,417,500 shares at Rs 30 premium.
  • Issued 900,000 rights shares in 1:1 proportion (all taken up).
  • Issued 450,000 shares to public (all taken up).
  • Issued 67,500 shares to employees (2,600 taken up).
  • Allotted additional 135,000 shares for oversubscription.

1988

  • Received overseas enquiries for BOPP film know-how sale.
  • Received letter of intent for 2,000 tpa packaging grade film expansion with General Electric, USA.
  • Promoted Cosmo Electrofil Ltd. for 800 tpa film project.

1989

  • Implemented 800 tonnes per annum capacitor film project, which went on stream.

1990

  • Results affected by increased raw material costs, interest charges, and import margin money.
  • Increased authorised capital.

1991

  • Developed specialised BOPP film CMP-111 with paper-like qualities.

2002

  • Appointed valuer for 1:2 swap ratio merger with Gujarat Propack Ltd.
  • Promoters increased stake by 8.49% acquiring 702,000 shares at Rs 34.55.
  • Held 93.5% stake in Gujarat Propack Ltd and undertook restructuring.
  • Held 55% share in domestic BOPP flexible packaging market.
  • Board approved 14,000 TPA expansion at Rs 500 million cost.

2003

  • Board approved 1:1 bonus issue.
  • Invested Rs 50 crore to expand Aurangabad facility from 46,000 to 60,000 tons.
  • Members approved delisting from Delhi and Ahmedabad Stock Exchanges.
  • Delisted from Delhi and Ahmedabad Stock Exchanges.

2006

  • Appointed Mr R Vasudevan as additional director effective October 26.

2008

  • Appointed Mr. Parvinder S Arora as Company Secretary effective July 04.

2009

  • Co-opted Mr. H. N. Sinor as Additional Non-Executive and Independent Director effective March 02.

2010

  • Appointed Mr. Suresh Rajpal as Non-Executive and Independent Director effective May 28.
  • Shifted registered office to 1008, DLF Tower-A, Jasola District Centre, New Delhi.

2011

  • Set up new manufacturing plant in South Korea in November.
  • Appointed Ms. Neetu Sharma as Company Secretary and Compliance Officer.

2012

  • Appointed Ms. Jyoti Dixit as Company Secretary and Compliance Officer.
  • Recommended dividend of Rs 5 per equity share.

2013

  • Started commercial production at Shendra manufacturing facility.
  • Board recommended dividend of Rs. 2.50 per equity share.

2014

  • Board recommended dividend of Re. 1.00 per equity share.

2015

  • Showcased thermal lamination films at PAMEX.

  • Export Oriented Unit became self sufficient.

  • Launched Black Velvet Lamination Films.

2018

  • Bagged SAP HANA Visionary Award.
  • Launched CPP metalized film with high metal bond.

2019

  • Launched CPP High Barrier films.

  • Launched Transparent Antifog Film for large packs of fresh fruits & vegetables.

2021

  • Launched White Cast Polypropylene (CPP) Film.

2022

  • Issued Bonus Shares in the Ratio of 1:2.
  • Changed name to Cosmo First Ltd. from Cosmo Films Ltd.
