Company History

1978

  • The company was incorporated on January at Cochin.
  • The Company took over the assets of several smaller companies.
  • Malayalam Plantations Ltd. became a wholly owned subsidiary of Malayalam Plantations (Holdings) Ltd.
  • 70 shares were subscribed for by the signatories to the Memorandum of Association.
  • 22,20,000 shares were allotted to Malayalam Plantations (Holdings) Ltd., U.K. without payment in cash.

1979

  • 20,000 shares were reserved and allotted to GIC and 40,000 shares to UTI.
  • 59,930 shares were reserved for employees, Indian directors etc.
  • 6,60,000 shares were offered at par for public subscription in August.

1982

  • Malayalam Plantations (Holdings) Ltd., U.K., offered for sale to the public 10,20,000 No. of equity shares of the Company.

1983

  • Harrisons & Crossfield (India) Ltd. was merged with the Company.
  • 2,50,000 shares were allotted at par without payment in cash to members of Harrisons and Crosfield (India) Ltd.

1984

  • The name of the Company was changed from Malayalam Plantations (India) Ltd., to Harrisons Malayalam Limited.
  • 32,50,000 bonus equity shares were issued.

1986

  • The Company decided to set up a centrifuge latex factory.
  • An understanding was reached with Royal Vam dex Hare, Holland for production of proprietary seeds.
  • A full-fledged tissue culture centre was established at Hosur.
  • An understanding was reached with Universal Plant, S.A., a joint venture Company to produce and export cut flowers.

1987

  • 26,00,000 bonus equity shares were issued.

1991

  • The Company launched its packet tea 'Mountain Mist' in Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu.
  • The Company launched its packet tea 'Harrisons Gold' in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

1994

  • 9,205,400 shares were issued.

1997

  • A new factory was commissioned at Achoor.

1998

  • The factory at Achoor was accorded ISO 9002 certification.

2004

  • Mr. Umang Kanoria was appointed as Director of the Company.

2008

  • Mr. Pankaj Kapoor was appointed as Managing Director of the Company.
  • Mr. Ajit Singh Chouhan was appointed as Director of the Company.

2009

  • Harrisons Malayalam recommended a dividend of Rs 1.50 per share.

2010

  • Harrisons Malayalam signed a contract worth Rs. 50.28 Crores with KTDFC for the construction of Central Bus Terminal for KSRTC at Trivandrum.
  • Harrisons Malayalam bagged new projects.

2011

  • Mr. Ashok Bachan Goyal was appointed as Additional Director of the Company.
  • Harrisons Malayalam recommended a dividend of Rs. 1.50 per share.

2012

  • Harrisons Malayalam appointed Mr. V. Vengugopal as Manager of the Company.

2013

  • Harrisons Malayalam recommended a dividend of 7.5% (75 paise per share).

2014

  • Harrisons Malayalam recommended a dividend of 10% (Rs. 1 per share).

2024

  • The Company commenced commercial operations at Pattumalay Tea Factory.
