1955

  • Incorporated on 30 May as Private Limited Company 'The Commercial Printing Press Ltd.' and took over printing division of Tata Sons Ltd.

1965

  • Converted to Public Limited Company.

1966

  • Name changed to Tata Press Ltd.

1973

  • Issued 1,480 shares fully paid-up pursuant to contract without cash.

1977

  • Established Time products division.

1978

  • Issued 2,200 bonus equity shares 2:3.

1980

  • Installed phototypesetting equipment from Alphatype Corporation.

1981

  • Installed new equipment in studio, printing and finishing departments.

1982

  • Installed microprocessor controlled four-colour sheet-fed press and electronic colour scanner.

  • Entered partnership agreement with Donnelley.
  • Proposed issue of 12,90,000 equity shares to R.R. Donnelley India Pvt Ltd.
  • Vantech Investments Ltd. and Design Shop (India) Ltd. became subsidiaries.
  • Installed second saddle stitcher and perfect binding machine.

  • Signed Shareholders' Agreement with Tata Sons and R.R. Donnelley India.

  • Name changed to Tata Donnelley Ltd.

  • Released yellow pages for Chennai, Mumbai, New Delhi on CD-ROM and Exporters pages on Internet.

  • Launched industrial source book 'Search'.
  • Launched Touchstone 'Have Fun' children's books.
