  • Commissions three units of 45 MW Kurichhu power station in Bhutan ahead of schedule.
  • Enters MoU with Government of Madhya Pradesh for Indira Sagar and Omkareshwar projects.
  • Enters MoU with Government of Jammu & Kashmir to exploit power potential.

2002

  • Secures 19-year line of credit from LIC for Rs 2500 crore.
  • Accorded AAA credit rating for domestic borrowing and BB for international borrowings by Fitch Ratings.

  • Commissions Chamera-II power station (300 MW) in Himachal Pradesh.

  • Commissions Indira Sagar hydroelectric project (1000 MW) of NHDC.

  • Enters agreement with Government of Bhutan for DPR of Mangdechhu project (672 MW).

2008

  • Conferred Mini Ratna Category I status by Government of India.

  • Incorporates JV National Power Exchange Limited with NTPC, PFC and TCS.

2009

  • Incorporates JV National High Power Test Laboratory Private Limited with NTPC, Powergrid and DVC.
  • Appoints Shri Sudhir Kumar as Part-time Director effective October 21.
