Company History

1992

  • The company was incorporated on 3rd July and obtained the Certificate of Commencement of Business on 7th August.
  • The company set up a project for the manufacture of Multi Access Rural Radio System and Channel Digital Microwave Radio System at Udyog Vihar, Gurgaon, Haryana.

1994

  • The company offered 29,00,000 equity shares of Rs 10 each for cash at par.

1995

  • The company proposed to manufacture Digital Multi Access Rural Radios, Digital Microwave Radios, and other products.

1996

  • The company introduced products like SCADA and SMARTLINK for the first time in India.
  • The company entered into a joint venture agreement with Telecommunication Consultants India Ltd and formed Hexacom India Ltd.
  • The company formed Telelink Network (India) Ltd with Harris of USA and PTT Ghangdong of China to provide telephony services.

1997

  • The company signed a joint venture with the Essel Group to form Essel Shyam Communications Ltd.

1998

  • Crompton Greaves and Shyam Telecom merged as the lowest bidders in a 2000-line tender for the indigenously developed CorDECT Wireless Local Loop system.
  • The company signed a licence agreement with the Department of Telecommunications for operation of basic telecom services in Rajasthan.
  • Asia Cellular Satellite formed a joint venture to market its service in India.

1999

  • The Foreign Investment Promotion Board rejected an application by US telecom vendor Qualcomm for a 26% stake in Rajasthan basic services licensee Shyam Telelink.
  • The registered office of the company was shifted to New Delhi.

2000

  • Spanco Telesystems Solutions Ltd merged with Shyam Telecom Ltd.
  • Shyam Telecom Ltd commissioned a DECT-based WLL system with a basic service operator in Nigeria.
  • Shyam Telelink Limited commercially launched its basic telephony services in Rajasthan.
  • The company set up a telecom access network based on indigenously-developed Wireless in Local Loop technology in Madagascar.
  • The company lined up an ambitious blueprint for growth.
  • The company decided to consolidate its holdings in the various service ventures of the group through its 100% subsidiary, Shyam International Ltd.
  • The Board approved the issuance of 25,00,000 preference shares at a face value of Rs 10 each.

2001

  • SBI Mutual Fund acquired 17,21,428 equity shares of the company from the secondary market, exceeding 5% of the paid-up equity capital.

2002

  • The company launched CinShyam to provide software products and services.
  • The Board approved the transfer of the manufacturing business to one of its subsidiary companies.
  • The Registered Office was changed from New Delhi to Jaipur, Rajasthan.
  • The company's name was changed.
  • The Memorandum and Articles of Association were amended to increase the Authorised Capital of the company.
  • Mr Rajiv Mehrotra resigned as Managing Director but continued as Chairman and Director.
  • Mr K N Mehrotra, Mr S S Puri, and Mrs Shyama Mehrotra resigned from the Board of the Company.
  • Mr Ashutosh Garg and Dr Jhunjhunwala were appointed as Additional Directors.
  • The company received a purchase order for Rs.128 crs for the product Cor-Dect WLL from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd.

2003

  • Mr Hemant Kumra was appointed as an Additional Director.
  • Mr Ravi Jaipuria was appointed as a Director.
  • Essel entered into an alliance with Shyam Telecom for a second DTH licence.
  • The Company resolved to delist its equity shares from several stock exchanges.

2004

  • Shyam Telecom Ltd held 37.5% equity shares of Hexacom (India) Ltd.

2006

  • Shyam Tele picked up a GSM licence in the UK.

2008

  • Mr. Vinod Juneja was appointed as an Additional Independent Director on the Board of the Company.

2009

  • Mr. C S Malhotra was appointed as an Additional Independent Director on the Board of the Company.

2013

  • The Board of Directors of the Company reappointed Mr. Rajiv Mehrotra as Chairman & Managing Director of the Company.

2014

  • The Board of Directors of the Company reappointed Mr. Ajay Khanna as Managing Director of the Company.
