1940
- Calcutta branch set up factory for manufacture of fire proof doors.
1959
- Incorporated as private limited company on August 6, jointly promoted by Mather & Platt Ltd., UK and Greaves Cotton & Co. Ltd.
- Set up factory at Chinchwad, Pune for manufacture of calender bowls for textile industry; expanded to textile finishing machinery, stenter clips, centrifugal pumps, electric motors, food processing and canning machinery, fire protection and detection equipment.
1961
- Converted to public limited company on April 19.
1975
- Issued 8,400 bonus shares of Rs 100 each (3:5) on July 15.
1978
- Changed name from Mather Greaves Ltd. to Mather & Platt (India) Ltd. effective March 9.
- Subdivided shares of Rs 100 each into Rs 10 each on June 5.
- Reconverted to private limited company effective June 5.
- Issued 81,000 bonus shares (81:224) on September 12.
1979
- Reconverted to public limited company on June 14.
- Issued 7,99,930 shares at Rs 8 premium: 7,00,000 offered to public July-August, 50,000 reserved for financial institutions, 20,000 reserved for employees including Indian directors.
- Issued 8,95,000 shares to Mather & Platt Ltd., UK without payment in cash on May 3 under amalgamation scheme.
- Issued 70 shares for cash at Rs 8 premium on May 16 to Indian directors and employees.
1980
- Implemented extensive scheme of modernisation at Chinchwad factory.
- Mather & Platt Ltd., UK granted licence to use their name for products and corporate name.
- Mather & Platt Ltd., UK allowed use of trademarks registered in India for pumps and fire protection systems without royalties or fees.
1981
- Issued 12,00,000 bonus shares (3:5).
1986
- Commissioned large circulating water pumps for Mettur Thermal Power Station, Tamil Nadu.
- Food machinery division received approval for acquisition of technology for new type of filling machines.
1987
- Erected three 36" verticals from NFC Bhatinda and two 48/48 split casing pumps for MSEB Parli Power Station.
- Executed order for Washing and Soaping Range for Vietnam and commissioned range of finishing machines for Rwanda.
1988
- Commissioned electronic fire alarm and control system at Visakhapatnam Steel plant and complete fire protection system for large LPG installations of public sector oil companies.
- Developed and installed large size multistage mine drainage pump in Dhanbad collieries.
- Entered new collaboration agreement to produce stenter with export potential.
- Decided to set up representative office in Nairobi, Kenya.
- Issued 38,40,000 bonus shares (3:5) on July 16.
1989
- Signed technical collaboration agreement with Firetek Corporation, USA for manufacture of smoke detectors.
- Pump division developed high efficiency end-section pumps and launched in market.
- Signed agreement with Termomeccanica Italiana, Italy for collaboration on pumping equipment for power, fertilizers, petrochemicals.
- Signed agreement with Thyssen Machinenbau, West Germany for newer range of pump products.
- Issued 51,20,000 rights shares at Rs 20 premium (5:4); 34,22,650 taken up, balance 16,97,350 allotted privately to Stockholding Corporation of India Ltd., Hongkong Bank Agency Pvt. Ltd., Canara Bank, Canbank Financial Services Ltd.
- Offered 2,56,000 equity shares to employees/directors at Rs 20 premium; 45,750 taken up, balance lapsed.
1990
- Fire engineering group developed electro-pneumatic heat detector, butterfly type deluge valve, remote controlled water/foam monitors, dry-chemical skid.
- Fluid engineering group supplied, installed and commissioned circulating water pumps at 500 MW Chandrapur Power Station for Maharashtra State Electricity Board; developed and supplied three large multi-stage mine drainage pumps to BCCL Bhalgora mine.
- Textile machinery division developed yarn sizing machine and multi-layer stenter.
1991
- Commissioned first yarn sizing machine and manufactured thermobonding calender at textile machinery division.
- Manufactured advanced mushroom canning, aluminium foil heat sealing machines for polyjars, machinery for lime processing and Oleoraisin plants at food machinery division.
- Developed ionization type smoke detector with technology from Firetek Corporation, USA.
- Received turnkey orders for water supply pumps from Hyderabad Metro World Bank aided project.
- Supplied eleven large 1650 KW vertical circulating water pumps to Neyveli Lignite Corporation, high head water supply pumps for Mizoram, first batch of seismically qualified process pumps to Nuclear Power Corporation.
- Gilbert Investments Ltd. became wholly owned subsidiary.
1994
- Supplied large vertical pumps to Karnataka Power Corporation, filtered water pumps to Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board, high head water supply pumps for Mizoram.
- Commissioned fire shearing machine at textile machinery division.
- Entered stenter manufacturing and secured first order for hot air stenter.
1995
- Introduced new products: Lime Oil Extraction Plant, Chilli Processing, Mushroom Processing, Canning, Dehydration Units, Onion/Garlic, Onion Peeler, Warping, energy efficient hot air stenter.
2002
- Appointed Vidya M Chhabria as Chairperson.
2004
- Firmed up collaboration with VAG of Germany for valve technology.
2006
- Changed name from Mather & Platt (India) Ltd. to MPIL Corporation Ltd.
2010
- Appointed Ms. Drushti Desai as Additional Director effective January 27.
