  • Chosen as co-promoter for Rs 840 crore Aromatics Project by Madras Refineries Ltd.

1995

  • Chairman signed MoU with Gelman Sciences, US for membrane filters manufacturing.
  • EI DuPont proposed tie-up with SPIC.

1996

  • Fertiliser plants shut down for maintenance from 23 March to 9 May.
  • Commissioned two hectare Floriculture EOU with Israeli collaboration for rose cut-flowers.
  • Commissioned BIODART enzyme project for leather and detergent industries.
  • Heavy Chemicals Division agreed with Chlorine Engineers Corporation, Japan for Membrane Cell Conversion at Manali.

1997

  • Setting up $160 million urea plant at Jebel Ali, UAE via subsidiary SPIC Fertilisers & Chemicals.
  • Signed agreement with M.W. Kellogg for Dubai fertiliser complex.
  • Spic Electric Power Corporation signed PPA with TNEB for 525 MW Tuticorin power project.
  • Proposed merger of Spic Petrochemicals Ltd, Spic Aromatics and Chemicals Ltd with Arochem.
  • Signed agreement with Universal Investments, New Zealand for food processing JV.

1998

  • Converted Dubai subsidiary into JV with Mauritius partners.
  • Entered marketing tie-up with Radisson Hotels International for hospitality.
  • Spic-SMO entered Rs 10 crore JV with Technipetrol SpA, Italy.
  • Proposed merger of Manali Petrochemical Ltd and Spic Organics Ltd.
  • Spic Organics allotted 1.5 crore shares to SPIC.

1999

  • K Govindarajan quit as MD of Spic Petrochemicals Ltd.

2000

  • Proposed transfer of Heavy Chemical Division at Manali.
  • Formed 50:50 JV with Pioneer Overseas for 5,000 MTPA seed processing plant in Andhra Pradesh.
  • Bagged Best Productivity Award 1998-99 for phosphatic fertiliser industry.

2010

  • Neeta Mukerji appointed Nominee Director of ARCIL.

2011

  • Registered office shifted to SPIC House, Mount Road, Guindy, Chennai.

  • Tuticorin plants resumed production.
  • Entered MoU with Government of Tamil Nadu for 1,270,000 MTPY Urea facility in Tuticorin.

  • Resumed commercial production of Urea and Ammonia; all plants restarted.

  • Entered natural gas era.
  • Thoothukudi plant started receiving natural gas from ONGC facility.

  • Captive floating solar power plant in TN commissioned and inaugurated by CM.
