1955

  • Sesa Goa Limitada acquired jointly by Gewerkeshaft Exploration e Bergbau and Ferromin S.p.A. with equal shareholding.

1957

  • Mingoa Sociedade Mineral Goesa S.a.r.l. incorporated with Fiat of Torino as principal shareholder.

1963

  • Finsider acquires West German interest in Sesa Goa Limitada and all shares of Mingoa.

1965

  • Incorporated as Sesa Goa Pvt. Ltd. under Companies Act 1956 on 25 June; wholly owned by Istituto per la Ricostruzione Industriale.

1978

  • 14,000 bonus shares issued 2:3.

1979

  • Mingoa Pvt. Ltd. amalgamated with company; 38,500 equity shares allotted to Finsider.

1981

  • Company converted to public limited on 25 March.
  • Finsider offers 22,05,000 equity shares for sale at Rs 2.50 premium: reserved for institutions, associates/employees, and public.

1984

  • Beneficiation plant with 15 lakh tonnes capacity set up in two stages.

  • Company issues 6,48,270 12.5% secured partly convertible debentures of Rs 110 each.
  • Sesa Kembla Coke Co. Pvt. Ltd. set up with Kembla Coal & Coke, Australia (40% stake via subsidiary).

1991

  • 12,96,540 equity shares allotted at Rs 20 premium in debenture conversion.
  • 8,64,360 equity shares allotted to Finalder International at Rs 20 premium to maintain equity stake.

1992

  • Pig iron plant commissioned.
  • Sesa Industries Ltd. set up for expansion in steel areas.
  • Sesa Industries sets up second pig iron plant of 90,000 TPA; plans preferential issue to Sesa Goa shareholders 1:2.

1993

  • Shipbuilding division delivers two 2500-tonne barges and ten small steel boats.
  • 73,05,900 bonus shares allotted 1:1.
  • 32,80,220 equity shares allotted to Finalder International at Rs 50 premium to maintain 51% stake.
  • Sesa Seat Information Systems ceases to be subsidiary effective 29 March.

  • Second blast furnace commissioned in Sesa Industries pig iron plant.

  • 17,89,200 rights shares issued in 1:10 ratio at Rs 90 premium; 47,613 kept in abeyance.

1996

  • Sesa Shipping Ltd. amalgamated with Sesa Goa Ltd.
  • Company owns 21 perpetual mining concessions under Portuguese Law.
  • Company acquires shares making Sesa Kembla Coke 100% subsidiary.
  • 44,898 abeyance shares from rights issue issued.

1997

  • Company installs plant for pellet feed recovery from tailings at Codli Mines.
